The Obama feel good factor
The Nurse is excited about Obama’s inauguration in January.
She can’t remember the last time she was excited about politics. For years she has been variously exasperated, bored, frustrated, maddened and rendered comatose. Seldom has she felt positive or hopeful.
But this is different. She’d go as far as to admit that Obama’s victory gave her a little Kennedy moment, squatting on her iron bed in her damp cell. As though a ray of light had shone through the impenetrable walls.
The Nurse finds herself feeling uncommonly cheery. Jolly well done America. Welcome to President Obama, champion of science and a highly intelligent bloke.
Let’s hope the dark days of greed and ignorance are over.

We all hope that Obama does bring light to the failing American economy. Like the nurse, lots are counting on him. Great blog!

I don’t think people give obama enough credit. No President in history has been faced with so many challenges: two wars, terrible economy, high unemployment, deregulated industries, corporate/political greed, lost of prestige around the world, and personal hate. Now most of the media have been fair with him except of course Fox News. Their bias towards him mostly by those morning show kuckleheads, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and on occasions Bill O”Reilly no matter what he does they can’t find it in them to praise him. He gets $20 billion dollars to ensure people are not left out in the cold by BP and they read it as a power grab. Had George Bush done it they would hail it as him doing what’s best for the people. Then you get to their lame reason like it is unconstituional. As if Sarah Palin did a day in law school, our President taught constituional law!! I would trust him to know his responsibilities as President better than these wanna be Perry Masons. In the end, these people who hate OUR PRESIDENT will regret the day that they didn’t embrace this man of character and fortitude. He is the right man for this job and the only one who could have handled all these challenges and keep his head.

Now that the first flush of enthusiasm has ebbed away, it’s obvious why Obama’a poll numbers are plummeting. A lot of people who, if they had done any homework at all instead of being carried away on that wave, are beginning to realize who Obama is, and what he intends. After all, this young man with no actual accomplishments published two biographies, in which it is very clear that he is a radical Progressive, and his relationship to the Constitution is antagonistic at best.
Again and again, the BP incident being a very good example, there have been laws in place to cover a particular situation, and Obama has ignored them, and with no better authority than public opinion, has taken unto himself the power of autocratic rule. Threatening people with federal action to extort money from them is illegal.
On no legitimate authority he usurped the rights of GM’s bondholders so he could do a favor to his union buddies instead. In bankrupcy court union contracts could have been renegotiated, and GM might have had the opportunity to proceed on a sensible, businesslike basis, rather than the taxpayer being saddled with the UAW’s bloated pension obligations.
The Bush administration is gone but the Obama administration has not allowed the Patriot Act to sundown, and if the Bush administration had authorised the assassination of American citizens abroad without due process, as the Obama administration has, would he have been allowed to serve out his term?
This man is a tyrant, and possibly if the Republicans (however undeserving) regain control of Congress he will be impeached.
